K here's my take, two fold.
What to say to schools
Our closing comfirmation we tell schools who are really interested will be the end of next week or week after. Remember that if we have it the week after, we still have at least 5 sessions after that with the kids. This is under the assumption that we have at least until the mid of Oct to do so. We need the school's take on this. So for presentations, we have to be honest and make mention we are casting a wide net and considering several 'applications' because we can't put all our eggs in one basket and we have our own constraints.
"EEEee.. he/she never do work one..."
As for the no such thing as 100% part. Yes I completely agree. With several experiences with groups, that my friend mentioned is and equivalently to his relationships. If you know my friend... that isn't a good thing. I understand that 100% is not achievable by all. However, since things haven't really started and if people do adhere to their rolls responsibly and leaders delegate where things are needed, I do believe there maybe equality. Furthermore, everyone needs to be proactive in taking self initiative to do more for the team especially so if you feel you are under performing.
Take for example for some roles that don't seem very heavy on work, PR may just be the point of contact, but the individual may play devils advocate to the whole report or each section written. This would ensure consistency as well as an external 'objective' view point. Also, I would preferably have one who has taken NM2220 to apply those concept when writing. KISS. Keep it short and sweet, or Keep it simple stu**d as they say.
Further more, don't forget we are also trying to devise and extended plan with the different hierarchies to have this sustainable beyond our leaving.
LESSONS LEARNT:
From last night's Gov, Media, Community and the people project, it thought me that our scaled down version of communication for social change needs to involve not only the community, but for the 'gov' as well. Like the teachers, the school, HOD board, to have them own this program as well for it to be sustainable thereafter. These are my thoughts on it, but definitely open to more suggestions.
As for those who cannot come to meetings as often, their time maybe made use of again for group leaders. For e.g. Yi Eng, who's lessons clash quite a bit with meeting times, could do the background work on say, "why we target school children, or what studies show that this age XXX is the most influential." Back ground work to help the research team. That is to say, not just dump 4 /5 books on the table, but to summarize points and present them to the writer editor team. Autonomy is given to the nominated leader of writer/editor team. Likewise for media side, we will show and update wherever possible the progress of the video editing for viewing.
Don't think there's much to worry. If everyone does their job and air concerns and unfairness openly, am sure as a group will feel 100% isn't a problem, or at least near 100%. Thanks Mei Hui for taking the initiative and bringing this point up :)Do blog your concerns as well as views. I do hope that this will come out a great success and we all walk away with a good grade and one hell of a program.
Thanks again for the initiative taken to blog and notify all to read the blog Mei Hui.
